Character and Representational Research
Rose- Rose is represented as a young, vulnerable and scared girl. This is shown through her clothing; white dress represents femininity and purity. She is a young victim of child abuse. Her characteristic when she protects her sister from harm shows the love and bond she has for her sibling who portrays responsibility for Rose. We will show this through Rose placing her arm round her sister to comfort her. This creates sympathy from the reader as such a young figure shouldn’t be dealing with this much responsibility in the circumstances she is in.
Police officers- The police officers represent authority and reassurance to the audience that there is justice in the common society. Their uniform, posture and serious facial expressions help to build their look of importance. A low camera angle will be used to make the officers appear powerful.
Little Sister- Roses little sister represents naivety. Although within a family of abuse and alcoholism she is so young to really understand what is going on. She is extremely vulnerable and relies solely on her older sister to protect her from danger…
Mum and Dad- The mum and dad in this story strongly represent instability and addiction. The mixture of the mother’s alcoholism and the fathers violent tempeh create a sea of dangers for their two young children that have to experience the wrath of their parents on a daily bases. The background music of Ring a ring a roses will have a more aggressive tone to it when played whilst the parents are shown.
Good planning Stevie- I thought we agreed that you would add some images to this?
